This Is My Story

Grab your favorite drink and relax.

My name is Kristi. My favorite coffee is…wait. You don’t want to hear about that stuff. This is about my skills and experience as a designer. Let’s go back a bit.

Education

I went to college at Creative Center of Fine Arts and Design in Omaha, NE. A school with a three year program, but enough programs to get an associates degree in two years and a bachelors in three years. I completed all three years with flying colors and was valedictorian for both my Associates (2017) and Bachelors (2018) degrees. I also did a summer of Dale Carnegie training in 2017.

Experience and Skills

Since graduating in 2018, I’ve worked at two marketing agencies, a sign shop, and freelance work. Learning the basics of coding and print elements needed to make successful products. How to talk to clients, create compelling campaigns, and staying organized in tight budgets.

I have experience working with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, XD, and Premier Pro. I’ve also learned how to use Figma on my own and ON1 - a program that takes low resolution images and makes them large. I’ve also created storyboards and elements for client request Doodly ads. I’ve designed and mocked up trade booths for shows. Other programs I’ve worked with have been: Wordpress, Canva, Asana, PowerPoint and Google Slides, Adobe Express, and Acrobat. I’m able to switch between Windows and Mac systems seamlessly.

Experience with Clients

This is a fun one. I’ve dealt with a variety of clients. Ones who didn’t know what they liked, but knew what they didn’t want. Other who were frustrated with past experiences and left with smiles on their faces. I worked with one client that cussed out the first design draft, then did a 180 with the next round.
Each client was different and unique. I would research each company they worked for. Looking at current branding, reviews, and current designs. I would also research their local competitors. Asking what they liked about their current campaigns, what they didn’t like, the direction clients’ wanted to go, and if another campaign stood out to them. I’d also send screenshots or links to websites that felt like the direction they wanted to go. Gathering references and resources to make the process smoother.

A bit of a longer process, but it helps make the design process smoother and faster.

Remote or In-House

I’m comfortable working both remote and in-house. Both have their advantages.

Willing to Relocate

I would be willing to relocate. I like exploring new places and getting to know new people.
